Frequently asked questions

What is covered by the $250.00 camp fee?
The camp fee is all-inclusive. The only additional costs would be for Camp Drum souvenirs (t-shirts, drumsticks, drum heads, etc.). If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact the director as funds may be available.

Are meals provided?
No. Campers should bring a sack lunch each day marked clearly with their name.

How long have you been in operation?
2007 marked the inaugural session of Camp Drum; however, its parent corporation, L.e.a.P., was founded in September of 2001.

What about transportation?
Parents are responsible for the transportation of campers to and from Camp Oakarro. Transportation to off-site activities will be provided.

What would happen in the case of a medical emergency?
Medical profiles will be kept on file for each camper as well as the location of the nearest medical facility. Should a medical emergency arise, an adult would provide transportation for treatment.

Is percussion experience required to attend Camp Drum?
No. Camp Drum has something to offer percussionists with a wide range of experience.

Will there be performance opportunities for the participants?
Yes. At the closing ceremonies on Friday, each group will play a piece that they have worked on during the week. Campers are also invited to prepare a solo to perform at that time as well if they choose.

What should participants wear to camp?
Participants should plan to wear weather-appropriate, comfortable clothing and shoes (not sandals) that are appropriate for outdoor activities. It is strongly recommended that a hat be worn as well.

Please send a sun screen and bug repellent product with your student.
