Founded in September of 2004 as a division of the WGI World Champion percussion 

organization L.e.a.P. (Learning Everything About Percussion), Jump Start is designed 

to provide performance opportunities for the aspiring 5th to 8th grade percussionist. The 

L.e.a.P. organization’s emphasis on performance is matched only by its commitment to 

providing young percussionists the opportunity to learn about, and perform on, a variety 

of instruments from around the world. Consequently, those having participated in the 

Jump Start ensembles will exhibit the ability to function as a versatile, well-rounded, 

percussionist.
