“In my two years as a L.e.a.P. member, I have
become a better musician and marcher and developed as a person. From the staff,
to the members, to the show itself, L.e.a.P. is a truly unique experience!"
Ben Kipp, Cymbal Line
“L.e.a.P. enabled me to build friendships with people from all over the
Chicagoland area and from many different backgrounds. It also allowed me to
further my percussion skills in ways that I had never imagined. The experience
helped me to overcome challenges that I once thought were impossible to
overcome. Knowing how much I have changed for the better, I would recommend
joining L.e.a.P. to anybody looking for a way to become a more mature person and
performer."
Danny Lane, Pit
"Being in L.e.a.P. is the experience of a lifetime! Over the course of the past
three years, I have become a stronger drummer. I grew to enjoy the rehearsals
and take advantage of the time I had with the great people I met and the staff
that pushed me further than I ever thought possible. I learned so much more
about music than I ever could have in my high school band program."
Jon Locke, Pit and Snare Line
“L.e.a.P. provided me with the opportunity to
march competitively after having graduated high school. It was also a new
experience to travel, something that I most likely wouldn't have done without
the L.e.a.P. organization. The practice and competition schedule was flexible
enough that I did not have to quit school or a job just to march competitively.
Aside from competition, L.e.a.P. also allowed me to interact with people from
other schools and to learn how others approach marching.”
Erin Baugher, Bass Line
“L.e.a.P. is a very worthwhile and rewarding
experience for kids our age. Our age group so often is limited in the amount of
things we can work on as a team. L.e.a.P. allows us to enjoy the camaraderie and
excitement as a group. It also lets us explore a completely different world
where everything is get up and go and forces you to open your comfort zones. You
learn to see music from new angles. I think any percussionist that has a love
for music would love the program.”
Shannon Pahl, Pit
“L.e.a.P. did more for me than I could ever
have imagined. Not only did joining the group help to further my knowledge and
ability to play, it brought on a new understanding of what it really means to be
a part of a group. I learned, through the whole experience, that taking my
responsibilities seriously not only helped me to become a better musician, but
is what really makes the group so successful. Without all of the talented
musicians in the group working together, we would never have accomplished as
much as we did in the short time we worked together.”
Drew Anderson, Pit
“L.e.a.P. was a great experience for me this
year. I met a lot of cool people and got to play some difficult music that I’m
not used to playing. The most important thing that I got from this experience is
discipline. Some of the rehearsals were long and hard, but I had to stay quiet
through most of the rehearsal. Those nights were hard, but because we all stayed
focused, we were able to accomplish our goal.”
Joe Dolce, Pit
“L.e.a.P. brought me up to a level of drumming I had never dreamed of. Before I
auditioned for L.e.a.P., I hadn’t heard the word winterguard. I really didn’t
know this whole world existed. I was the best player on my high school line and
I thought I knew quite a bit about marching percussion. I was sorely mistaken. I
gained so much knowledge and experience through the process, as well as making
plenty of new friends.”
Gabe Bitto, Tenor Line
”L.e.a.P. was a wonderful experience for me. It was trying at times but very
rewarding in the end. I worked with some wonderful people, and the whole
atmosphere was fun. I had never worked in a group prior to L.e.a.P. that was so
dedicated to performance. The whole group seemed to be a big family, which was
very refreshing. Moral of the story…It was awesome!”
Matt
Vallaro, Pit
“I am an “original” L.e.a.P. member meaning
that I've been a member since day one. L.e.a.P. is by far the best activity I
was involved in during high school. No other high school activity travels as
much as L.e.a.P, the learning environment is outstanding, and I’ve never been
with a group with as much of a family atmosphere as L.e.a.P. I have developed
relationships with many different people. I highly recommend becoming a part of
L.e.a.P.”
Brian Pezzullo, Snare Line
“My two years in L.e.a.P. gave me a wealth of
knowledge not limited to the world of music. Hard work and dedicated practice
were just a couple skills that I was exposed to through L.e.a.P. which continues
to be a defining memory in my past.”
